About CityVero
A verified directory for the ten towns we live in.
Built by Central NJ businesses, for Central NJ residents, with standards that say no as often as yes.
The Problem We Started With
There are ten towns in Central New Jersey we know intimately.
Manalapan, Marlboro, and Freehold south of Route 9. Monroe, Old Bridge, and East Brunswick along the Turnpike spine. Howell with its rural edges. Jackson where the Pine Barrens begin. Fifty thousand families live here. They eat at the same restaurants, send their kids to the same leagues, hire the same contractors, and refer the same therapists.
Until now, there has been no reliable way to find any of it.
Google's local results are gameable — pay enough and your auto repair shop ranks first. Yelp aggregates reviews from people who don't live here, weighted by an algorithm Yelp won't explain. Nextdoor is unverified noise where the loudest neighbor wins. The local newspapers that used to know who was who closed years ago. What's left is a vacuum where you can search for a plumber and find seventeen results — none of which tell you anything about the plumber.
CityVero was built to fill that vacuum, but not in the way another tech platform might. We're not scraping reviews. We're not running ads against your searches. We're not buying our way to the top of Google for "Manalapan dentist." We're doing the slow work of verifying, town by town, vendor by vendor, what's here and what's worth your time.
A directory is only useful if it says no. Most don't.
What Makes This Different
Three principles guide the platform. They're falsifiable claims, not marketing language — anyone can check us against them.
Verified means we said yes after looking, not yes because they paid. Every vendor on CityVero passed a verification process that confirmed their existence, credentials, and standards. The full rubric is published at cityvero.com/verification. We say no when standards aren't met. We don't publish the names of rejected vendors, but we explain in writing what triggered the decision.
Free for the people who live here. Free for the institutions that serve them. Residents pay nothing — ever. Sport leagues pay nothing — ever. Township government, schools, EMS, fire, police, and libraries pay nothing — ever. The platform is funded by the private businesses that want to be found by all of them. Vendor pricing is published openly at /pricing, with three tiers and a 30-day refund guarantee on every paid listing.
Curation over aggregation. We don't display Google ratings, Yelp scores, or net promoter numbers. Review platforms incentivize gaming, and aggregating gameable signals creates the illusion of objectivity. Verified-or-not is the only badge we issue. Past that, your judgment is yours.
These principles cost us things. They cost us the easier path of indexing every business in the ten towns and selling premium placement. They cost us the SEO advantage of having ten times more pages than we'll ever have. They cost us the optics of "thousands of vendors" that competitors can claim. We accept those costs because the alternative is becoming what's already there, just newer.
Who Operates CityVero
CityVero is operated by CityVero LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company. The platform is editorial in nature: we curate, verify, and publish. We are not a brokerage, an agency, or a financial services firm.
How We Make Money
CityVero earns revenue from three sources, all transparent:
Vendor subscriptions. Local businesses pay annual or one-time fees to be listed on the directory after passing our verification process.
Realtor partnerships. Real estate professionals partner with us to provide the CityVero Key — a premium welcome card delivered at closing — to their new homeowner clients.
Institutional partnerships. Three categories on the platform are reserved for exclusive institutional partners. These partners share common ownership or related-party status with CityVero LLC, and that relationship is fully disclosed on every page where their services appear.
Our Institutional Partners
We made a deliberate choice to integrate three professional service relationships into the platform rather than list them as competitive categories. This is a feature, not a conflict — and we tell you about it clearly so you can make your own decisions.
Insurance, employee benefits, and group health — Kandelaki Solutions LLC. A New Jersey-licensed insurance brokerage. Operates under common ownership with CityVero LLC.
Wealth management, investment planning, and retirement strategy — Kandelaki Financial Group. Registered Representative of MML Investors Services, LLC. Operates under common ownership with CityVero LLC. Not a subsidiary or affiliate of MML Investors Services LLC.
Mental health services — Positive Reset Manalapan. A New Jersey-licensed mental health practice, independently operated under separate professional license. A related-party institutional partner of CityVero LLC.
You are never required to use any of these partners. You can browse, contact, or hire any business in the directory or any business outside it. The partnership simply means these three categories are reserved on CityVero — we don't list competitors against them.
What We Don't Do
CityVero LLC does not offer or sell securities, insurance products, investment advisory services, or healthcare services. We don't collect medical information. We don't process insurance applications or securities transactions. Those activities, when they happen, occur between you and the partner entity — under their own regulatory frameworks, their own engagement terms, and their own privacy policies.
The Ten Towns
Every directory needs a scope, and ours is specific: Manalapan, Marlboro, Freehold, Monroe, Old Bridge, East Brunswick, Howell, Jackson, Holmdel, and Colts Neck. We chose these ten because they share a market — the same school districts, the same hospitals, the same county services, the same drive-time radius for vendors who serve multiple towns. A roofer who works in Manalapan also works in Marlboro and Freehold. A pediatric dentist in East Brunswick sees patients from Old Bridge and Monroe. A martial arts academy in Howell pulls students from Jackson and Freehold. Treating these ten as one connected market reflects how residents actually live.
We're not trying to be a national platform. We're not trying to be a New Jersey platform. We're trying to be the definitive directory for these specific ten towns — and only these ten, until verifying additional towns can be done with the same care we gave the first.
If you live in Marlton, Cherry Hill, Edison, or anywhere we don't currently cover, we know you exist and we appreciate you reading this. We may expand someday. We won't expand until we can verify properly.
What We're Not Promising
A platform that just launched has to be honest about what it doesn't yet know.
We don't know how many residents will use CityVero in its first year, or its third year. We don't know which categories will have the strongest vendor density. We don't know whether the verified-curation model will produce more inquiries per vendor than the volume-aggregation model that competitors use. We're betting it will, but we don't have proof yet.
What we can tell you is what we're committed to. Verified curation. Free for residents and institutions. Honest pricing for vendors with real refund guarantees. No surprise fees. No data selling. No marketing language we can't back up. The full set of commitments is on the /pricing page, and they're enforceable — not aspirational.
If you're a vendor evaluating whether to commit to a paid listing, the most honest thing we can tell you is this: the platform has a real founder, real operating businesses behind it, and real disclosed terms. The traffic and inquiry numbers will become whatever they become as the platform grows. The 30-day refund exists for vendors who decide it's not the right fit, and it's enforced automatically without negotiation.
A Note from the Founder
I started this because the directory I wanted didn't exist. I moved to Manalapan in 2014, and the questions I had then — who's the good roofer, what's the right pediatrician, where do I take my kid for soccer — are still the questions every new family in these towns has, and they still don't have a reliable answer. CityVero is the answer I wanted to find. Building it with the businesses my team and I already operate, here in Central NJ, is the most direct way I know to make sure it actually exists in five years rather than going the way of every other local platform that lost interest and shut down.
If you're a resident, you'll never pay us — that part is structural, not promotional. If you're a vendor and you commit to a tier, I want you to know that the commitments on the pricing page are mine to honor, and I read every email that comes to [email protected].
